Fire Station Artist Studios
The brief required the renovation and remodelling of an existing derelict Georgian building to provide residential studios that provide self-contained, secure living and working spaces for professional visual artists.
The Georgian building is directly adjacent to an old fire station which has been operating as artist studios for many years. This provided the opportunity to cleverly provide new links between the adjoining buildings while paying careful attention to retaining the character of each. The resulting spaces are bright, contemporary and minimal, and provide a blank canvas for each artist to personalise.
The new studios were officially opened in June 2014 by President Michael D. Higgins.
Croke Park Stadium
This is a steel walkway erected onto the roof of the iconic stadium that offers panoramic views out over the Dublin skyline. Its lightweight construction was erected on the existing roof without the need for any additional strengthening of the original steelwork. At the corner of the Cusack and Davin stands, the walkway extends in a glass barrier out over the pitch in a cantilever.
